Moroccan Celery Seeds

✨ Moroccan Celery Seeds — A Fragrant Kitchen Staple

Celery seeds are the small, whole dried seeds of celery, known in French as graines de céleri, in Arabic as بذور الكرافس, and in Darija as habb l-karafs. Their ribbed green-brown surface and concentrated, savoury aroma bring a familiar depth to everyday cooking. A small amount goes a long way, so they are easy to keep close at hand for soups, tagines, salads and home spice mixes.

🌿 Traditional and Cultural Uses

Across North African and Mediterranean kitchens, celery seeds have long been used as a seasoning for vegetable dishes, lentils, sauces and pickles. In Moroccan household tradition, they were also prepared as a warm infusion after a rich meal. This is a simple culinary seed with a place in both the spice cupboard and the family kitchen routine.

🍵 How to Use

• 🍲 Add a small pinch to lentil soup, vegetable soup or a slow-cooked tagine.
• 🥗 Sprinkle into salad dressings, marinades or a homemade spice blend.
• 🥬 Use with cooked vegetables, legumes and tomato-based sauces for a savoury celery note.
• ☕ Traditionally, steep a small pinch in hot water and strain for a simple warm infusion.

🥣 Simple Vegetable Soup Seasoning

1. Start your soup with onion, tomato and the vegetables you enjoy.
