Asafoetida Resin

✨ Asafoetida Resin — A Traditional Resin for Ruqyah

Asafoetida resin is the dried natural gum resin of Ferula asafoetida, a plant of the carrot family. It is also known as hing, heeng, hingu and asa foetida; in Arabic it is called حلتيت and in some Arab traditions الأنجدان. The pieces in the jar range from amber to brown, with a firm, uneven surface and a strong, distinctive aroma when warmed.

🌿 Traditional and Cultural Uses

In Moroccan, Arab and South Asian household traditions, asafoetida was kept as a special aromatic resin. It was traditionally used in fumigation during ruqyah and other customary protective rituals, and some families burned a small piece to scent and prepare the home before prayer or a family gathering. It has also long been carried or kept in the home in traditions concerned with the evil eye and unwanted influences.

🔥 How to Use

• 🏠 Use it in a well-ventilated room as part of a customary home ritual.
• 🌿 Keep a piece with other traditional aromatic materials for a family gathering or spiritual practice.
