✨ Staphisagria Seeds — A Traditional Head-Care Botanical
Staphisagria seeds are the whole dried seeds of Delphinium staphisagria, a plant also known as stavesacre. In Morocco they are known as حبة الرأس (habbat ras or habbat rass), a name associated with traditional head-care use. You may also see the names staphysagria, staphysaigre and stavesacre. The photograph shows their natural loose form: small, hard, unevenly rounded seeds in deep brown, charcoal and muted olive tones, with a dry, textured surface.
🌿 Traditional and Cultural Uses
In Moroccan and wider Mediterranean household tradition, حبة الرأس was kept for external head and hair preparations. It was traditionally used in customary routines concerning the scalp and unwanted insects in the hair. This is a traditional-use material with a long place in home knowledge, not a culinary seed or a kitchen spice.
🧴 Traditional External Use
- 🌿 Keep the whole seeds in a clearly labelled container with other traditional external-use materials.
- 🧺 Use them only within a customary external head-care practice you already know.
- 🫙 Return unused seeds to a clean, dry container after handling.
