Moroccan Tannin is a dried botanical material made from round tannin-rich galls. In Moroccan Arabic it is called العفص, pronounced afas or afass, and it is also known as mazou, gallnut, oak gall and, in French, noix de galle. The Whole form shows the galls as they are: firm, rounded pieces with naturally varied beige, olive and brown surfaces. Powder is the same material finely ground into a light-brown powder that is easier to blend.

In Moroccan and North African household tradition, afas was used in external beauty preparations, especially customary hair mixes. It was also included in natural colouring blends and in older craft preparations connected with leatherwork. 1. Place the desired amount of tannin powder in a clean bowl.
2. Add water little by little while stirring until the mixture is smooth and easy to spread.
3. Prepare only what you need for the moment, then rinse the bowl and spoon after use.

Choose Whole or Powder, then select 100g, 250g, 500g, 1kg, 2kg, 3kg or 5kg. Whole arrives as loose dried galls, while Powder arrives as loose ground tannin.
